Her Art Project

In the true spirit of “If you build it, they will come,” we thought it important to create a lasting memorial to Hannah at her second home, Fairport High School.

Always building...

Always building…

Hannah was to graduate with the Fairport High School class of 2015. To coincide with the 2014-15 school year we are trying to create a lasting and inviting work of art that will serve as a gift to grace Fairport’s campus and to help us remember Hannah for years to come.

Although the project will emerge during the 2014-15 school year, we’re kicking it off now, in the summer of 2014, to see who’s interested in participating and to document the process. So, join this group now to be a part of it.

Here’s the general plan….

  • Involve artist John Grieco (http://objectmaker.com) -Already done. John has committed to the project!  Check out John’s collection of work HERE!
  • Involve Fairport students and art teachers to help design the piece and work with John to create it. Join or follow along HERE!
  • Begin discussions and planning in Summer 2014
  • Begin design and creative process in Fall 2014
  • Deliver artwork to FHS campus in Spring 2015

We are hoping to help John and the FHS students & teachers develop a great collaborative relationship throughout the process with John visiting campus and students visiting John’s studio/shop regularly.

An Important Note: the school district has formed a committee to hammer out policies and procedures for memorials on campuses. So, that could certainly have an impact on the outcome of this project. However, we can get started with ideas and planning. So, let’s begin.
